Frequently Asked Questions

About The Paintings

What materials do you use?
I employ only artist-grade permanent watercolor paints (Winsor Newton, Daniel Smith, and Holbein) on heavy archival 100% cotton watercolor paper (Arches and Saunders Waterford).

Do you offer prints or giclees?
I offer framed and unframed prints of my original watercolor paintings, as well as other art items, at my Pixels website: www.james-oberst.pixels.com. My originals are only sold on this website.

Do you do commission work?
I am no longer accepting commissions.

How do you price your paintings?
For originals, the price depends only on the size of the painting. The prices for prints depend on the size, material, and framing options, which can all be chosen on my Pixels website.

Have your previous collectors been happy with their paintings?
If you'd like to read some unsolicited comments from collectors who have purchased paintings from my websites, please look at these unsolicited testimonials.

Why is the painting that I reached by clicking a link from another site different from what I expected to see?
When a painting on this site is sold, I eventually replace it with a new painting, to avoid "cluttering up" the site with unavailable paintings. In that case, you will see the replacement painting.

Purchase, Payment, & Shipping

GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE: ALL PRICES FOR MY ORIGINAL PAINTINGS ON THIS WEBSITE ARE MARKED DOWN 50%! Every original painting for sale on this website is on sale until further notice for 50% off the original price! An original painting will make a unique gift for a loved one (or for yourself)! Because of this deep discount, no additional loyalty discounts can be applied. Paintings marked with a yellow dot are part of my personal collection, and so are not for sale. Paintings marked with a red dot have been sold. But prints of these paintings are available at the usual price from my Pixels website.

How can I purchase a painting?
To purchase an original painting from this website, when you click the Buy Now button located under your painting image, you will be transferred to the secure PayPal site, where you can pay by credit card, bank transfer, or PayPal account if you have one. To purchase a print or other art item, purchase instructions are included on my Pixels website.

Do you ever offer discounts or rebates?
You'll find a link to any curent special offers for original paintings on my Home page. Collectors who have purchased 3 or more original paintings from me receive a 10% rebate on all subsequent painting purchases. Multiple discounts and rebates generally all apply unless this is specifically prohibited in the offer.

Can I pay for my painting over time?
Yes, you can use the PayPal Credit financing option to extend your payment time, often with no finance charges. Just choose the financing offer at PayPal checkout.

How quickly will you ship my painting?
Normally, I will ship your painting within one or two business days of your order. If there will be an extended shipping delay, I will include a message to that effect on this website's Home page and gallery pages.

How will you package my painting?
I ship all paintings flat, in a waterproof plastic sleeve, between rigid slabs of foamcore or cardboard, and enclosed in an envelope or paper wrapping.

Which delivery service will you use to ship my painting?
I ship paintings to all U.S. destinations by first-class U.S. mail. International shipments normally go via Priority Mail International.

Is there a charge to ship my painting?
There is no charge for shipping to an address within the U.S. For international shipments, there is a small extra charge - 15% of the painting's value. If you require international shipping, I will send you a PayPal invoice for the additional shipping charge via email after you complete your online purchase.

What about import duty?
Import duty fees vary widely by item, destination country, and value. I cannot predict whether there will be an import duty, but if there is, it will be your responsibility to pay it.

What if I don't like my painting when I receive it?
I know that it's difficult to choose art on the internet, and I want you to be happy with your painting, so I offer a no-questions-asked money-back guarantee: If you are unsatisfied with your painting for any reason, you may return it to me in "like-new" condition at your expense within two weeks of receipt, and I will refund your original payment.
