| I am strongly drawn to watercolor because of the clarity and luminosity I can achieve with this medium, as well as for its habit of doing its own thing. I paint in a representational but loose style, striving to create vibrant paintings that draw the viewer into a situation or location they would enjoy.
Although I grew up in New York City, I have many fond memories of vacations in the country and by the seashore, both during my childhood and also later with my own children. Consequently, my major subjects have been rural landscapes, and inland and coastal waterscapes. I also enjoy painting figurative subjects, usually in a strong, colorful style. Lately I have broadened my subject matter to include urban landscapes, which are exciting to me because of the activity they portray.
